Assessing Transboundary?Local Aerosols Interaction Over Complex Terrain Using a Doppler LiDAR Network

Transboundary-local aerosols interaction requires to be comprehensively understood in urban air quality research. A year-long intensive observation of the atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) at multiple sites Hong Kong was conducted using a four-Doppler Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) network with different scanning modes. Results show that heterogeneity ABL terms mixing height wind shear induced by orographic topography. Interaction between local advected aerosol layers during transboundary pollution (TAP) episode identified network. During TAP episode, downward transport relied on small scale eddies weak speed nighttime, while surface upper level dominated process daytime, but affected terrain determined capacity mixing, eventually resulting opposite direction transboundary-local interaction.
